5 Ideas for Your Memorial Day Celebration

Profile

Although we may not be able to gather in large groups for our Memorial Day celebrations, here are 5 things you can do with your family that will keep the weekend fun and educational.

  1. Visit DuPage County’s Virtual Memorial Day Celebration
DuPage County’s interactive Memorial Day portal (dupageco.org/memorial) allows folks to honor the memories of family and friends as well as features lots of educational videos and information you can share with your family.
  2. Make Your Own Memorial Day Poppy
Red poppies are often worn as a sign of remembrance on Memorial Day. You and the kids can make your own with tissue paper and few materials.  Get the step-by-step tutorial here.
  3. Create Patriotic Chalk Art
We have absolutely loved seeing all the creative chalk art local families have created over the past few months, so why not take it to a patriotic level? If you want to go beyond American flags, check out some of these ideas.
  4. Make Something Sweet
Nothing makes a weekend celebration sweeter than a little themed dessert. From red-white-and-blue berry pizza to mini stars berry pies, check out these great recipe ideas here.
  5. Have a Moment of Silence
Let your children know what Memorial Day is all about by taking a moment or two during the weekend to quietly remember those who have served.

Have a great weekend!
