6 Family Activities for Valentine’s Day

As romantic as Valentine’s Day can be—especially when it falls on a weekend like it does this year—sometimes you can’t get away from the fact that your celebration needs to include the kids. Here are some great family fun ideas we found from Huffington Post:
Whip up some chocolate
What is Valentine’s Day without some chocolate goodness? Instead of buying a box from the store, find a couple of fun recipes or fudge and have a night of baking fun.
Host a game night
Turn off the electronics and get out the board games. Playing board games is a great way to reconnect with one another and there are great options for even the youngest of players (i.e. Tenzi).
Have a V-Day movie marathon
As a family choose a couple of “love-themed” movies to watch as you are all curled up on the couch together. There are great options depending on the age of your children—from Princess Bride to Lady and the Tramp.
Get outside
Although the weather is a bit chilly, bundle up and head outdoors. Go on night walk around the neighborhood or a family hike during the day. You can even light up the fire pit and make some s’mores while you drink hot chocolate.
Go on a family date
Dress up and go to a restaurant you normally don’t visit—maybe try something new like fondue or sushi.
Deliver some valentines
From nursing homes to people in your neighborhood who could use a little extra “love”, have your kids create Valentines and take them to others. This small gesture of love will last long after the holiday is over.
