Home Decorating Trends You Might Want to Try in 2021

Profile

We’ve all been spending a whole lot of time in our homes lately and if you’re tired of staring at the same old walls and furniture, why not try one of these great home decorating trends from Real Simple:

Japandi
A combination of Japanese design and Scandinavian minimalism, Japandi style is all about sleek lines and neutral color palettes. It is said to turn your home into a soothing, earth-toned sanctuary.  Yes, please.

Neon Lights
Gen Z is bringing neon lighting back with a modern look.  Customized neon word art in fun fonts and neon-hued LED lights are trending.

Friluftsliv (the New Hygge)
While we love the idea of embracing hygge and snuggling up indoors, we are also craving the Danish concept of friluftslive and are bundling up to head outside.  Think about sprucing up your outdoor space even before spring arrives.

Doors and Dividers
As our homes now serve multiple functions, the need for privacy and separate zones as increased.  Consider dividing some of your open spaces or even looking at turning closets into offices.

Earth Tones
There is a renewed interest in earth tones including beige, brown, burnt umber and terracotta.  If you’re planning any paint projects, consider swapping in a warm beige or greige for bright white.

Oversized Tiles
Skip the teeny-tiny penny tiles with the impossible-to-clean grout lines in favor of larger scale tiles in the bathroom.  The large-format tile also can help visually expand a small space.

Grandmillenial Style
Inspired by the comforts of Grandma’s house, millennials are decorating with a nostalgic sense of style.  Think vintage touches with old-school patterns mixed with bold, modern colors.

What trend will you be jumping into first?  We’d love to see the final project!
