Tips for Organizing Your Diaper Bag

Profile

How can someone so little need so much stuff?  That is a line that is repeated time and time again by moms as they prepare to take their littlest out into the world.  Although today’s diaper bags are more than spacious, keeping things organized isn’t always easy.  Here are some great tips from the team of editors at Motherly.

Divide and conquer with small bags
Use smaller bags—nothing fancy, even plastic baggies will work—to keep related items together and keep things from floating around in the larger diaper bag.

Have an emergency changing kit
Assemble an emergency changing kit ahead of time by bundling a change of baby clothes, a fresh diaper, plenty of wipes and hand sanitizer in a bag you can quickly grab.

Simplify bottle prep
For formula-feeding on the go, keep an extra bottle with the formula you need measured out along with water to mix it up.

Get resealable snacks
Grab yourself lots of pouches with resealable caps and snacks that come in their own sealable containers.

Keep a carabiner on your keychain
While you are busy making sure baby has everything he needs, you may walk out the door without something you need: the keys. Add a carabiner to your keychain so you can hook them onto a loop inside your diaper bag.

Bundle your essentials
Staying with the “don’t forget about your needs” theme—dedicate a smaller storage bag of your diaper bag to items like your phone, wallet and lip balm. When you’re ready to transfer items to a “real” purse, you don’t have to search for them.

Keep wipes in an outer compartment
Baby wipes are great for many things—cleaning messy faces, wiping off smudges, touching up makeup.  Keep a container of baby wipes in an easily accessible outer compartment of the bag.
