Nestled in historic downtown St Charles, along the beautiful Fox River, The Wine Exchange has been a local landmark since 1997. The Wine Exchange not only sells fine wine and spirits but also hosts weekly wine tastings, luxurious wine paired dinners, wine education and more. We believe in helping our customers make informed wine selections based on their palettes and price considerations, we specialize in exquisite California wines, as well as an array of fine wines from around the globe. We also carry high end and rare spirits.
Keri Foster and Bob Sommer have had a passion for wines for over 20 years traveling the world tasting wines from Italy, France, Spain, and of course California, Oregon, and Washington. Therefore, it was a natural progression for them to someday own a Fine Wine and Spirits shop where they could share the same appreciation, passion, and wine knowledge with their wine friends. Bob and Keri continuously seek out exceptional boutique, low production, and family-owned wineries throughout the world to provide their customers with the finest selections of wines to choose from.

Our story began over 15 years ago with a little family vacation to Northern Michigan. We are originally from Geneva, IL having moved there in 1993. Our busy lives were composed of work, children in school; extracurricular activities; and sports. With each visit, we noticed there was Illinois time and Michigan time. We welcomed the chance to decompress, relax, and slow down to a Michigan pace and quickly immersed ourselves in the culture. Thus, we built a cabin along with our children from the ground up, cultivating roots near Traverse City. Our attachment to Northern Michigan was visceral, wanting to experience all it had to offer. We soon discovered Old Mission Peninsula and Leelanau wineries that challenged the perception that only the finest wines can be made in California, France, or Italy. These areas sit on or near the 45th parallel of latitude, which has been a geographical marker for particularly good conditions for winemaking.
As we have grown to love Northern Michigan wines and the family owned wineries that make them, it is this very passion that inspired myself & my daughter to bring the Northern Michigan experience home to Geneva, IL and share it with all of you. It is our mission to welcome our guests into a space that offers exceptional wines in a destination style environment that says, “slow down, relax, stay awhile…” Our story only continues and these next chapters include all of you.

Our family is deeply rooted in winemaking. We’ve spent nearly a century pouring our hearts into the art form. From this passion, we’ve cultivated locally grown vines that produce award-winning profiles on our very own 85-acre Maple Park estate.
We are intimately involved in the process, because we know it adds to the purity, integrity, and rich characteristics of our vintages. Every single grape is grown on the estate. We plant, prune, harvest, age, and bottle, so we can feel confident every sip will inspire our guests.

Our team travels the globe looking for the very best grapes and when they are particularly impressed – whether it be in Chile, France, California or Washington – they work with the wine grower to begin crafting our wine. We nurture each wine according to its individual needs to craft the best wine possible. It’s this philosophy that has led to hundreds of national and international awards for our collection.
Cooper’s Hawk has created a modern, casual dining experience with warm hospitality in an inviting upscale setting. Our culinary team has designed a contemporary American menu infused with flavors from around the world. Each dish is made fresh in our scratch kitchen, incorporating peak-of-season ingredients, and listed with a bin number to guide you to your selection’s perfect wine match.
